Doane Family members and friends were greeted by the Doane College staff at the Perkins Library .
Ted and Alice Doane were the reunion Chairmen. They were ably assisted by Jody Fikar, Janis Mitchell, and Janet Jeffries all of Doane College.
The Historian's room, manned by our historians, Kay and Virgil, and providing genealogical information and exhibits, was a popular spot.
A day trip to Nebraska's capital city, Lincoln. We visited the International Quilt Study Center and Museum. The next stop was the Lester Larsen Tractor Test and Power Museum, followed by ice cream at the University of Nebraska Dairy Store.
A tour of the Nebraska countryside included stops at the Hopewell Church and cemetery where Doanes who homesteaded in the 1860's are buried. The minister and four of the total 5 members of the church provided us with refreshments. They are short of members, but long on midwestern hospitality.
Singer LaDonna Gatlin with her mother Billie Doan, DFA president Dick Doane and wife Mary. LaDonna entertained us on Thursday evening with songs and stories. Her branch of the Doans hails from Texas.
Jody and family invited all the Doanes to a lawn party at their home in Crete.
