Doane University

Doane University, located in Crete, Lincoln, and Grand Island, Nebraska, is the oldest four-year, private liberal arts institution in Nebraska. It was founded in 1872 by Thomas Doane, the chief civil engineer of the Burlington and Missouri River Railroad.

The Doane Family Association (DFA) is fortunate to have Doane University support in many administrative tasks, publication of our bi-annual newsletters, and help with reunions. The university hosted our DFA reunions in 1990, 2000, and 2010.

In 1980 the Doane Family Foundation was created with Doane University to support Doane Scholars and other worthy projects. A large portion of these annual scholarships is awarded to Doane University students.
