Reunion Chair Cora Brodie

The Ontario DFA Chapter hosted the Doan(e) Family Association's 50th anniversary biennial celebration reunion July 21-26, 2008 in scenic Barrie, Ontario.

 

 

 

The welcome mat was rolled out by the Ontario Doans. Doan(e) Family Association officers were sworn in at the board meeting following the memorial service.

We enjoyed a wonderful lunch on our tour prepared by the ladies of the Sharon Hope United Church. Next stop was the temple of the Children of Peace in Sharon. It was built in 1825-1832 by master carpenters Ebeneezer and John Doan.
"Ebeneezer Doan" returned to attend our reunion.  He told us about his life in Cananda in the 1800's. Two of the youngest Doan(e)s at the birch bark house at Sainte-Marie among the Hurons.
